NMi Group acquires Central Calibration Services (CCS) to expand its UK In-Life Services Division
11 March 2025
- Chamois Metrology, an NMi Group business based in Southam (Warwichshire, UK) , acquires UKAS-accredited force calibration provider CCS, in Daventry (Northamptonshire, UK)
- Chamois and NMi Group are now among only three companies in the UK to offer accredited force calibration services
- Acquisition supports key markets, including aviation, defence, mobility, and soil testing
Southam, United Kingdom, 11 March 2025 – NMi Group today announces that one of its calibration businesses, Chamois Holdings, has acquired Central Calibration Services Ltd (CCS), a UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab for high-precision force calibration. The acquisition positions NMi’s In-Life Services Division as one of only three providers in the UK offering specialised accredited services in force calibration.
The integration of CCS into Chamois and the NMi Group strengthens force calibration expertise both in-lab and onsite, and expands the range of industries served. Along with enhanced technical capabilities, this acquisition supports key markets, including aviation, defence, and soil testing, with a more comprehensive calibration offering.
Expanded capabilities include:
- Tension calibration: 0.2 N to 500 kN (±0.10% – 0.36%)
- Compression calibration: 0.2 N to 3 MN (±0.10% – 0.48%)
- Soil testing calibration (tension & compression): 0.2 kN to 100 kN
- On-site force calibration: Up to 100 kN
- Faster turnaround times: 3-5 days
Yvo Jansen, CEO of NMi Group, says: “This bolt-on acquisition of CCS reflects NMi’s strategic vision for growth and innovation in the In-Life Services, specifically our high-value calibration services across the UK. By bringing CCS into our portfolio, we are expanding our technical capabilities while reinforcing our commitment to precision, reliability, and excellence.
This further strengthens our position as a trusted partner for our customers seeking industry-leading calibration and asset management services.”
Chamois General Manager David Billingham and his team, led by Shane Kelly, Lab Manager at Chamois, will oversee the integration and ensure a smooth transition.
David Billingham and Shane Kelly add: “Adding CCS enhances our capabilities with specialised force calibration services that complement our existing expertise. This allows us to offer clients a broader range of calibration solutions, improved technical support, and a more streamlined service—all within the NMi Group.”
A seamless transition with enhanced services
Chamois and CCS share a customer-first culture, prioritising quality service and a willingness to go the extra mile. This alignment creates a seamless transition, benefiting customers through faster turnaround times and cost efficiencies — ultimately lowering the carbon footprint by minimising subcontracting.
As part of the transition, CCS’s experienced technicians and quality staff will join Chamois, strengthening service capabilities and maintaining continuity. To minimise disruption, CCS will be part of the Chamois Holdings team, where clients will have access to an expanded range of calibration services backed by NMi’s In-Life Services Division with its UKAS-accredited facilities across the United Kingdom.
Ashley Pedley, Technical, Quality and Risk Manager at NMi UK, says: “Integrating CCS into Chamois Holdings strengthens NMi’s In-Life UK footprint while enhancing our ability to deliver a wider range of high-quality calibration solutions.”
